Most organizations dealing directly with those impacted by the coronavirus are primarily in need of financial donations. But here are some ideas we discussed: Volunteer with Foodshare/Foodbanks United Way donations Bloodbank donations Thinking of a way to read to children who have English as their second language One of us is supplying writing prompts to grammar school children through Trinity College Federation and Jewish Family Services are seeking volunteers to make friendly phone calls to local Jewish seniors, to see how they are doing and whether they might need assistance. To learn more or to volunteer, please email Alana Butler or call her at 860.840.7626. The Town of West Hartford has launched the “Eat Local-Win Local” campaign to generate support for local restaurants. Spend at least $15 at two different West Hartford restaurants for a minimum total of $30 from April 20 to May 31. Maybe buy one for you, one for a neighbor/senior/someone you are thinking of? Delamar Hotel Due to unprecedented circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we will be donating 50% of all gift certificates purchased for our hotels and spas to our dedicated employees during this time. To purchase a gift certificate, please contact Linda Kozelska at or at 203-413-3514. Follow Greg Hammond on Facebook: 30 Days of Impact for more ideas Another idea: Leave care packs when expecting a delivery. Include a snack, latex gloves, & Lysol wipes in a ziplock. Inspired by @prisonculture. If there is a specific activity that would work for our ProWo group, let Jane know and she will pass on. Each of us can ‘calendar’ the volunteer work we do. If you share with Jane, she will share or post to our website.
